Today's #FortressFriday takes us to Magione (Umbria), Italy. Here we find the important Palace Fortress of La Badia, or Castello di Magione. The site was originally a pilgrims hostel controlled by the Templars, but passed to the Order of St. John of the Hospital in the 14th century. The current fortifications we see began under the Hospitallers. In the early 16th century, it became the site for the plot against Cesare Borgia led by Cardinale Giovan Battista Orsini; a plot described in "The Prince" by Machiavelli.
